#ReleaseSanjivBhatt unconditionally #FreeSanjivBhaat campaign has acquired national resonance now. The echo of the nationwide movement found its footprint in city centre of Lucknow this overcast afternoon when I spotted two school children, Five years old Piyush and Seven years old Dimple joining the 150th year #GandhiJayanti celebration of Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwadi Party.
Former UP CM gave a special importance to the music and message of India’s Father of the Nation, Gandhi. Upon his direction, favourite spiritual hymns of Gandhi set to mellifluous musical tune were played to instill the values of Gandhian thoughts and philosophy.
As a Gandhian Socialist of modern era, Akhileah spoke about the relevance of Mahatma’s Truth force and non-violence as the potent weapon to fight fascist designs of Godse’s children, BJP RSS. SP national President was right in saying that Narendra Modi and his partymen did not have even remote relations with Truth and non-violence. The BJP people are enacting drama of remembering Bapu nowadays to wipe the stains of violence, falsehood and corruption from their temporal beings.
Meanwhile, Both kids were milling around the robust crowd of over a few thousand socialist workers at the iconic landmark in the Hazratganj GPO where a tall statue of frail looking Mahatma latching on to his stick stands.
Kids are grandchildren of a seasoned socialist warrior of Balrampur, Surendra Singh Chaudhary A member of Samajwadi Party since its foundation, SS Chaudhary had been a gritty ideological footsoldier.
In the “80s and 90s ahead of the advent of new Millennium, Surendra’ s generation of workers and leaders nourished the garden of socialism in Uttar Pradesh, rubbing shoulders with patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav across the sidewalks of farmlands and dustbowl of the villages and towns.
#FreeSanjivBhatt #SanjivBhaatkoRihaKaro campaign has attracted social activists from across the country. In Lucknow, activists and politicians of social democratic orientation should join the chorus for freedom of imprisoned police officer.
Gujarat cadre IPS officer didn’t get fair trial and it’s as clear as daylight that his case is nothing but a political vendetta.
Who is Sanjiv Bhatt?
Sanjiv Bhatt is a former Indian Police Service officer from Gujarat. He is known for his role in filing an affidavit in the Supreme Court of India against the then Chief Minister of the Government of Gujarat, Narendra Modi, concerning Modi’s alleged role in the 2002 Gujarat genocide.
Sanjiv claimed to have attended a meeting, during which Modi allegedly asked top police officials to let Hindus vent out their anger against the Muslims.
However, the Special Investigation Team appointed by the Supreme Court of India concluded that Bhatt did not attend this meeting, and dismissed his allegations.
He was suspended from service in 2011. Last year he was sentenced to life imprisonment in a 30 years old custodial death case. BJP is determined to crush the spirit of a conscientious officer who dared to defy dicree of Modi.
